Narrative
BROOKLYN, NY – A child sustained fatal injuries early Saturday evening when a vehicle struck him in a Brooklyn crosswalk.
Around 5:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to an auto-pedestrian crash at the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Albany Avenue in Crown Heights. This is just northeast of the Jewish Children’s Museum and southeast of the Brooklyn Children’s Museum.
Police say that 8-year-old Mordica Keller was crossing Eastern Parkway with his teen sister in a crosswalk when a southbound SUV struck him.
The young boy died after transport to an area hospital. His sister did not sustain injuries in the accident.
The 69-year-old driver of the SUV stopped to render aid and speak with police.
No charges have been filed at this time.
